Kara Haberstock Tanoue is a community-based researcher and evaluator at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, with a passion for food systems, community-based evaluation, and beautiful data display. Her areas of expertise include access measurement, quantitative and geospatial analysis, data visualization, GIS, and community needs assessment. She has over a decade of experience working with large public datasets, including those published by the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and interfacing with state agencies, local municipalities, and tribal governments to access and analyze administrative data to support data-informed decision-making across the state of Arizona.
