Program: Nature Niños is a collaborative community initiative targeted to young children, ages 0-8, and their families with the objective of building a positive relationship with the outdoors and supporting them with ways to explore, learn and play that promote positive family connections and well-being. The success of Nature Niños Prescott has prompted other communities throughout Arizona to reach out to Prescott (in Cochise County, Pinal County and Pima County) to learn how start their own Nature Niños. Information about Nature Niños Prescott: https://www.prescott-az.gov/recreation-events/programs-special-events/programs/nature-ninos/
The student(s) will be assisting with the development of a toolkit to help communities initiate their own Nature Niños collaborative initiative. All the background information for the planning and development of Nature Niños Prescott has been saved in Google Drive. Students will be working with faculty to go through this information and summarize into key points and steps and existing resources in the process of developing the initiative. These will be used to create a toolkit / road map for other communities. This may also include creating a bibliography of research articles about benefits of children and families in nature, outdoors and physical activities.
First Things First Yavapai has provided a small amount of funds for graphic design of the finished toolkit, but not for the development. The toolkit will be web-based and interactive.
