10 hours per week at $15.24 - $16.00 per hour.
The position is a short-term (4-6 weeks) over summer and involves several functions at the University of Arizona-Roosevelt Early Childhood Family Resource Center location at Martin Luther King, Jr. School in Phoenix. The individual will serve as a Program Assistant and perform administrative functions, programmatic functions such as assisting with resource and referral and parenting activities and perform supportive duties such as childcare and maintaining a clean and orderly environment. This position will have some flexibility in scheduling but will require one to two evenings per week on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays and one Saturday per month.
Responsibilities:
- Provide childcare as needed while parents are attending classes/workshops. Greet parents and children, assist in involving them with program materials. Assist in providing families with general information regarding the program.
- Assist with responding to resource and referral requests for information. Complete related forms accurately and provide information in a timely manner.
- Assist staff in preparing materials for programs or projects by organizing, sorting, photocopying and/or stapling, cutting or other means. Assist in conducting program activities for story time and/or STEAM time, among others.
- Complete enrollment and other forms, perform data entry, accurately maintain records and prepare information for reports.
- Maintain family resource center materials in an orderly fashion. Perform custodial duties including cleaning toys and books, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and emptying trash, among others. The person will also perform other duties as assigned.
- Connect with the Family Resource Center customers and provide them with a welcoming experience and engagement of Spanish speaking clientele.
Physical Requirement:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Ability to care for small children from birth to age 5 primarily in an informal childcare setting while parents are attending workshops.
- Organizational ability including being detail-oriented and meeting deadlines.
- Skilled in working with the public and especially families with young children.
- Knowledge of general administrative and programmatic processes.
- Knowledge in using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Good communication skills including written and verbal abilities.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to work effectively with parents and young children in a positive manner.
- Strong work-ethics and dependable.
