Divorce Recovery is a program of Jewish Family and Children's Services of Southern Arizona, initially established in 1978 by a UArizona FSHD professor. Divorce Recovery offers community support groups and classes including Divorce Recovery I & II, Children of Divorce and Changing Families, Education for Life, and Financial First Aid.
Interns will lead the Children of Divorce and Changing Families group(s). These groups assist all family members in the difficult transition through separating and/or divorce. This is an 8-week group for children and one parent run by interns from the University of Arizona who have completed the 6-week Group Leader Training. Age-appropriate activities are offered to children (3-18) while the parent attends an adult group to help facilitate open communication among family members and help guide the family through the process of change. The primary goals of the group are to help parents and children establish better communication and to be able to talk more effectively about the divorce transition and the losses they are experiencing. In addition, we aim to help parents develop skills to assist in this transition.
Divorce Recovery is located in Tucson, Arizona and this internship will be completed in-person. To apply, complete the Internship Registration Form and submit it to drinfo@jfcstucson.org no later than January 18, 2023.
